I just installed new Softseal roofrail weather stripping on my 70 GS and it seems to come down the inside of the windows too far, like a full inch or more. Is this normal or do I have the wrong strip? I'll try and post a picture later today.

Does anyone have a good picture of a "correct" roofrail strip installed?

    Ok, Thanks
This is what my originals looked like...They were to far gone to use as a comparison

    Finally....

Here you go. The A-pillar edge is pretty clear in the photo. The horizontal part across the top of the window should be flush with the vinyl trim at the edge of the headliner. In other words, a straightedge laid across the lowest point of the vinyl headliner trim and the lowest point of the weatherstrip would be parallel to the ground.

Looks like yours may just need to be stuffed in some more, or maybe it's got a bigger cross section than the original.

Here's one from about the same angle as your first pic

I'm wondering if I put the strips on the wrong side, but they were marked R & L. I tried to stuff more into the channel yesterday but the flat top in this pic filled the channel. I'm going to go out and get more aggresive with them, if they tear I'll just get new ones, these don't look to be right anyway.

Thanks for the pictures Nicholas :TU:

The ones one my car look just like yours, Rick. I thought they seemed to hang pretty low too. Drives me nuts getting in and out of the car, dragging across the top of my head :af: I'm not sure what brand is on my car, previous owner put them on, but I'll keep an eye on this see what others are using, there got to be a better fit out there...........

Looking at the original pics, it looks like they are installed all the way, that is, the lip that the top edge of the window meets seems to be in the right place (or at least real close). So that seems to implicate that the overall cross section of the weather stripping is just too big. Try another brand.
I recommend GM, vintage 1970 LOL :beer
