So I'm thinking of finally getting those TA aluminum heads in the next year or so, the Street Eliminator series I believe. Do you think that they are worth getting unported? I want to get the 2.26 valves, and retain the rest of my old valvetrain, which does not have more than 1000 miles on it. They say they flow better out of the box than ported iron, whether this 100% true I have no clue, but general concensus seems that these heads are of better quality and are better as far as exhaust flow is concerned. I do believe that on my setup I can definately squeeze 50 hp+ out of it even without oversized stage 1 valves. Well, just tossing ideas out there?

It is not that much more expensive to get a set ported also. I would do that so you really get the benefit of these TA heads. I bought a ported set ready to go from JW. Call him or anyone else for that matter.

I have also looked at the unported heads, and I think that they still have such an advantage over the stock heads that they'd still be worth it.

I haven't actually driven with them, though.

Money well spent. I bought some STG 1 SE heads from Gessler head Porting in ported form with the standard valve sizes. With the same build otherwise(cam, carb, exhaust, ignition, etc), I went .63 sec quicker in my fullsize LeSabre. No downside that I can tell.
