Smog pump with a new mission!

    those pumps are air low pressure air pumps. I don't think they'd draw very much vacuum. I'd go with electric or a belt drive vacuum pump from a diesel.

    Mine was drawing 25 inches of vacuum before seizure.

    doesnt a smog pump usually push air into the exhaust?

    Yes. But, anything that blows air has gotta suck air too. I converted mine from a front impeller fed suction to a rear suction port.

    You'd be in the same boat. Too much vacuum. I just changed the pump on my Powerstroke and it pulls 23". I've heard that you can get a restrictor to put inline and reduce the amount of vacuum.

    Where did you take your measurement for vacuum?

    Right here at the new vacuum port. I will be trying this again with less vacuum. I disected the old pump and it was NOT a bearing failure. Rather the internal thingamagig came apart.
