Smaller spare = diff damage?

In an effort to boost the laughable trunk space in my '69 Skylark, I'm thinking of fitting the smallest 15" tyre I can, something about a 195/60 15. I need 15s to clear my front calipers.
The question: Is the smaller rolling diameter of spare going to cause diff problems when on the rear? It would only be on the rear for as short a time as possible.
Its an open diff, if that changes anything.

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris

With an open differential you will be fine :TU:

In case of a limited slip differential:
I had an 80's Caprice wagon with a limited slip differential and one of those small (also in diameter) "space saver" spare wheels from the factory.

But if you don't trust it, you can always put the smaller spare at the front and replace the flat rear tyre with the front wheel :TU:

From the owner's manual from a rice car:

Agree with B2. I carry a full size spare for my Detroit Locker, but I'd probably just call Hagerty to come pick me up!

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

Just don't do it with a spool!......................unless you like to wrestle! As Jeff mentioned, I call Hagerty.

Got it sorted. Now I have a 195/50 15 spare. That means I can cram the spare right into the passenger side of the trunk and free up more space.
I also discovered that the trunk is wide enough for me to sleep across it. :idea2:

    Thanks again for your advice.
