I was just wondering what kind of lighting one should have in a 67 lark conv. At the moment I have one tiny little dim light in the middle of the speedo. I can just about make out the speed as long as its around 60mph.. nothing else! Its completely dark! I cant even read the odometer. Is this correct, should there be any other lights? I have the courtesy lights when the doors open. I guess there was no such thing as a map reading light in those days. I have to park under a street light or hope that a car with bright headlights drives behind me to make out the map!

Also I just wondered about the heater. Mine works but its pretty feeble. THere is a small amount of heat that seems to come from a vent in the middle under the dash, and a small amount of warmish air from the top of the dash onto the windscreen. Is this all I should expect, or could I beef it up a little? I generally drive with the roof down most of the time so its nice to have some hot air to keep you warm especially when driving at night

Something is wrong. Your dash is the same as mine (minor cosmetic changes) and mine is well lit.

My heater (same as yours) will burn you out in a few minutes when running on HIGH.

So, you have a problem with your car. Get a 1967 wiring diagram (these are often for sale on eBay). Check out the voltage readings on your wires..

    1. You have several instrument bulbs. You probably just need some new ones. There a bit of a pain to get to but, you can reach them if you try. Get under the dash upside down and reach around the back of the cluster. They are all the same type for idiot lights, signals and dash lights. They have little half turn sockets that un-clip and come out with the bulb. I can show you from my 65 to give you an idea. I'll grab some pics in a few.

    2. Heating system. I can get pics of this whole set up also. A little different from 65 to 67 but, not much. The cowl or grille will allow a bit of debris over the years to get down into the heating duct. Those little pine needles are especially nasty. They make it all the way into the heater core and clog the whole system. Or, the fan resistor can get clogged.

There are a couple of questions: Does your fan blow properly but the air is just not very hot? Check Thermostat? You in cold weather? Does you car warm up properly? Did the heater ever work correctly?

    pics to come...

thanks for all the info. I actually quite like the darkness.. its kind of makes it more atmospheric even if it isnt great for driving since I cant even read the fuel gauge!. The idiot lights work but I guess there are some others that need to be looked at.

As for the heater, it does blow hot and with the roof up its can get quite warm and toasty. I am sure though that some of the outlets are blocked since there is really only hot air coming from under the dash area blowing onto you feet. I guess passengers in the back still have to freeze if the roof is down... so I always keep a supply of blankets in the car for them.

Here is Los angeles heater is not so critical though, just when it was raining a few weeks back.

Gabriel, I didn't know you were stuck here in L.A. too..Cool. That's one more of us for the L.A. Summer BBQ=Buicks+Beer+Q

Where in L.A. are you? I live in San Pedro, I stay downtown L.A., grew up in Malibu, went to school in Santa Monica, and do most of my hanging out in West L.A.
