I was posting mine to help Pat out in case he didn't know they were still made. When they're on sale you can get them under $500/set, which is cheap for some nice shiny new wheels.
I am not upset about them posting..Who knows, maybe we can find stuff for both or all of us here.I do have a set of 4x 15 inch front runner Supertricks that would look good,if I could find some 15x10 or 15x8 rears to match I am not a fan of the polished ones for some reason
What out for the new wheels a lot of the are just cheap cast & heavy junk aluminum... Your better of getting old school wheels forged AKA billet and spend time cleaning them.
I've seen the same here in Australia for slots ( beanhole mags) to us older Aussies. You're not alone.
I have contacted a couple sellers and I realize that there are some really messed up individuals in this world.. One guy wanted me to pay with my credit card..He didn't want cash..I was like WTF?? So,I have some funds set aside to get a set of vintage looking set of slots,Spyders etc... that is in reasonable driving range of Central Pa..Since when has Craigslist been filled with so many ads??I can't even find any wheels since there are so many car ads..Frustrating...
The "hot" place to sell items these days seems to be the Facebook groups. Around here people sell everything on Facebook. Keith
They're still $25 each out here every now and then: https://missoula.craigslist.org/wto/d/arlee-aluminum-slots/6795560338.html https://missoula.craigslist.org/wto/d/ravalli-aluminum-slots-sprint-ford/6795553758.html
I have looked at several reproduction aluminum slots, and since I was around when they were new and popular I remember what they looked like and I haven't seen a new set that look anything like the originals, so I kept looking. I feel pretty fortunate to have found the ones I have, a matching set of four 15x7 Genuine Ansen Sprints, the first design with the metal snap in center cap and they are in near perfect original condition. I ran them on my El Camino for a while last summer. These are the original machine finish wheels rather than the polished that came out later, I think around `72 or `73. The earliest release I have found for mine was November 1967. I've been offered $1,000 for them but I'm not going to let them go. I'm sure I would never find another set like them.
Wow Bill...They are sweet! I'd hang onto them if I were you.. I have seen several sets that were cruddy for $1000 bucks..I'd really like to match the Supertricks with a set of 15x10 or 15x12's but I am wanting old school looking. I have found some Motor Spyders less center caps for cheap, but they are 14 inchers.
Well,I think I am getting a really decent deal on 4 of these old but good condition ET wheels. They are 15x7's so my Drag Radials(275x60) will be put on 2 and street tires on the other 2. I will be putting the front SuperTricks with skinnies on the front to kinda match. I need to locate some uni lug washers and center caps for them yet.
I might have a set of 10 washers from my old Cragars. I'll check and if I do you can have them for the cost of shipping. Do you need 10 or 20?
I'll check in the garage tonight and let you know. I put Cragars on my camper but it's just a single axle so unless I threw them away like a moron, I should have 10.
Ive got good news and a little bad news. I have a set of 10, but 8 are the old school oblongata type and two are the new round style that don't completely cover the slot unless your bolt pattern is right in the middle of the unilug hole. I think they'll just fit in an envelope with 2 stamps and we're good. Let me know if you want them, I'll clean the oil off and get them out to you. Just pm me your address.
I just picked up this set of four 15x7's... They need a little cleaning & polishing but I think they will turn out nice.
