i have a nice pair of original sill plates,does anyone know how to clean them to get the shine back?are they made out of aluminum?
Yes, they are aluminum, and they tend to lose their shine pretty fast if you don't keep them polished. I buffed mine with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder. Try the white compound, and follow with jewelers rouge (red compound) if you want it to look like stainless.
aluminium sill plates 'Never Dull' aluminum polish, lot'sa elbow grease, and a Clear Acrylic sealer will keep em looking new ! :TU:
