Should I need fast idle switch?

    msc66 still no vacuum

I installed a Classic Auto Air system on my Skylark with a Sanden compressor. In looking at others with simular systems I've never seen anyone running a fast idle switch but when I turn mine on it kills the motor. Classic says its my cam. The cams not that big (228/236 @ 0.50 w/.490 lift and I've seen other cars with lumpy cams with no fast idle.

    Any thoughts anyone?

on a 455 it should be able to idle with ac on no fast idle switch
sounds like you need to tune for a strong idle
you might have a vacuum leak ,what does the cam manufacturer
    suggest for idle setting

    Thanks Andy,

I have it tuned for max vacuum at idle which is about 12 - 13 inches at 900 rpms in park with my cam. I am in the process of hooking up my vacuum advance however. I have it set at 8* and with manifold vacuum so that should help my idle a little. Don't know if that'll help my A/C issue but I wouldn't mind smoothing the idle out a tad.

At 900 RPM it should not die with the A/C. Can you turn the compressor by hand. Obviously with the engine off. It should turn fairly easily.
