Got this off a farm in Blanco TX. Originally a Houston car(Ray Jensen Buick). It was originally brown and had alot of surface rust so those two things combined made folks think it was just a rust bucket. So it didnt sell for months and I got it for 1500. 2nd owner, runs great, just kind of an eye sore.

This after a week in my garage got the surface rust off and tore all the interior out, changed the oil, removed trim and headed to the body shop.

Out of the shop back to the house. Replaced a cracked front bumper and broken tail lights. I was going to replace the rear drums but they look pretty good except that a family of spiders were living in there.

Well, Ive got the fenders and hood off the car to paint. I decided to pull the engine also. I plan on painting the engine myself while the lark is in the shop.
Does anyone have any suggestions as how to better secure the transmission now that the engine is out? I have it supported with a jack stand right now. It doesnt drop much without the stand but Im thinking of putting some bolts and chains on there to support it better when its at the shop.

The shop that is handling my restoration supported it with a 2x4 as shown in the picture.

You are maybe 6-10 bolts away from pulling the tranny.

I would just pull the tranny and driveshaft, and while you're at it: Clean and readjust shift linkage with new bushings. New filter, gasket, modulator hose. New front seal. new rear seal. maybe new ujoints. Replace soggy tranny mount.

You can have the trans out in less time than to cut the 2x4, and you can reinstall the CLEAN engine and trans together, saving even more time.

Thanks for he info, I went ahead and used the 2x4. Engine is about halfway finished. I used rustoleum red engine enamel and the high heat rustoleum aluminum. While cleaning all the gunk off I found the engine has been rebuilt. I plan on contactin them and finding out how long ago it had been rebuilt.

Smokin' deal there Shooter. In what part of town do you live? I'm in Encino Park and so is Rusty Weinman. We're both putting the finishing touches on our '70 GSs

Picked up my tranny from my buddys shop while they're installing the new front end and body bushings. I forgot to bring back my chassis manual so I could id the transmission. This isnt a th350 is it? There are no tags or anything n it that I could see. 13 bolts in the pan.

Hmmm, somebody will chime in. Turbo 350 has a manual kick down detent cable connected and I don't see it on this one. this one has vacuum. ST300 would have an electric switch on driver side.

I'm curious now. It does look like a 350 pan.

Well after a little online research, I figured this trans is a th250. I guess thats why the kickdown connection was just hanging at the bottom of my car, it had nowhere to connect to. That sucks but its just going to be a weekend cruiser. I dont plan on hauling ass or taking it to the track so Ill probably just stick with this.
