This is funny. Local club used our aircraft hangar to park some of their cars while they had their annual club meet. Lots of neat old rods and customs, few full on race cars etc. I took my 71 there for display, and took two of my friends with me.... Anyway, as it ended, it always kind of degenerates into a free for all...by the time we had loaded up and got the car outside, I was talked into the mandatory launch.....so I casually said ok, I'll try.... Now keep in mind I'm surrounded by rods with blown 350's, LOUD 3" exh cars, mustangs with fibreglass hoods etc....anyway, here I am with my 'stock" restored 455 powered full load heavy GS, 2 1/4" exhaust, couldn't even hear it run....so with my two friends in the car, I pinned it..the rpms went to 5000 and I just kept backpedaling it across the parking lot (200 feet?) and treid to keep it straight!!!!LOL the look on their faces was funnier than hell.... Gotta love that torque. Heard through the grapevine at work that some of those guys were totally shocked at how it launched out of there..... And it s a Buick!!LOL Thought you guys might get a kick out of that. later Tim
