Use a large Flat Rate box . I know it fits . They are only around $40 to Canada . Post Office is No deal unless it fits in a Flat Rate Box

Rechecked prices . Large Flat Rate Box to Canada is $64.50 . Prices went up last time I sent something up that way

Yep, just went through that one myself. Noticed they're changing the box sizes, too. A few years ago a couple of the "Medium" sizes were bigger than the "Large" sizes are now. Glad I grabbed up a few and have them in my closet. They still honor them because they say "Medium" on them, and with the whole family living in Alaska other than myself, they're a real money saver.

holley carb . I won't ship those in a flat rate box . not enough "insurance" room . too short . I might be able to use a little smaller box but I can't see that making much dif .
edelbrocks are kind of ok . have to really brace them well and pack carefully .
    ups was $100+ .

I'm with you, Del. I don't think $72 and change is too much to ask to get something across the border. Seems pretty reasonable.

Only real answer you'll get is calling your local shippers. To many variables

I ship stuff from the Usa to Canada all the time, here is the scoop.

    1. NEVER use UPS they hit the buyer HARD with customs fees.

    2. Use USPS they transfer the item directly to Canada post with no fees.

    3. For anything large I use “uship”. I just shipped a complete engine and a spare set of heads for $230, 2000 miles .

I'm working on a couple options for him and dbl checking at a dif post office . ( edit - same $ )
but as of right now killing the deal and starting from scratch may be best option .
he said shipping from rock auto for a couple smaller parts wasn't toooo bad . I'm going to suggest checking with summit or jegs on a new carb and see what shipping is that way . because right now he's looking at almost $300 total cost for a basic 600 rebuilt holley carb with a couple extra's .

And when the party receives the carb from the cdn postman, he may very well charge the party a customs fee because the goods are more than $20 (?) .

I shipped a pair of '75 Chevelle headlight bezels to a customer in Ontario recently. It cost exactly that - $64.50 using the flat rate large box. There is a cheaper "regular" rate available, it might save you $10 - $15 over the flat rate box. But a carb is significantly heavier than a pair of pot metal bezels, so the flat rate might be the best option.

I was told there is a cheaper rate - but - 16oz limit ? so basically nothing .
again , not shipping in a flat rate box .
I warned him about the customs fee . no idea how that works . probably the soccer overtime rules apply .

As far as Customs fees I've found most Provinces in Canada don't ask for them except for Quebec .
