Hi: does anyone have any experience on duties or taxes americans pay on a 1966 vintage car from Canada. I am selling a car and have a few guys asking, any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely John Bowers:beer
John I bought a W-31 last year. The paperwork is more than you think. Have to hire a border agent unless the buyer can be with the car. Duty is minimal but be sure have Bill of sale and proof that Canadian tax has been paid on the car. Cost me 2148 to ship from B.C to N.C
importing into the u.s. guys: my brother sold his 70 gto to a u.s. buyer who imported it into the u.s. , from ontario canada . the buyer required , from ontario , the seller's signed ontario vehicle ownership, the previous owners / seller's document obtained from the ontario licence bureau by the seller prior to sale & a bill of sale from the seller . also , all pollution equipment , if originally equipped on the car, must be installed . u.s customs will check for stolen vehicle & any required pollution equipment .
