I have a 700r4 in my mildly built Skylark with a 350. I set the TV cable as instructed. The tranny shifts fine in D and OD if you drive it normal. But If you hammer down from the start, it shifts good from 2-3 if you have tranny in D, but if you have it in OD, it slips and an makes loud clink sound when it shifts from 2-3. When you left off it shifts very hard like its gonna tear rearend out. Any ideas what problem is?

How do you have the torque converter lock-up set-up?

I don't have a lock up. I just drive it in Drive in town and OD on interstate. Do I Have to have one?

No, I just thought it may be locking-up at the wrong time. There's 2 problems I know about with the 700r4. 1) sometimes the throttle valve piston gets stuck at the bottom of the bore in the valve body, usually when cold. To fix that they drop a conical spring into the bottom of the bore prior to inserting the TV piston. 2) they are notorious for breaking the accumulator spring. I put a shift kit in mine that eliminated that spring.

    That's everything I know about the 700r4.
