Ok. 69 Skylark with a TH350 Trans and a Hurst V-Matic 2 Shifter. Has both Standard and Ratchet shift capabilities. I can't seem to get linkage set right. Everything downshifts right. when I shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd it doesn't go all the way up to the next gear. sometimes it does, but, usually I have to kind of tap the shifter into the next gear to get it to shift. by the time I get up to 3rd the shifter is basically in the neutral position and sometimes the trans will even slip into neutral and over rev. I don't have the problem going into reverse or park though. If I adjust linkage back even one turn I then have problems with not being able to get into 1st. It seems like the "throw" is just off.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Any suggestions?

PS ... This is when manual shifting an automatic trans. When left in drive, car runs and shifts fine.

    Aftermarket junk shifters.

You need to look at the shift shaft linkage bracket. Are there a couple or three different holes you can use? Maybe you are in the wrong one.

If not, you can try to slot the hole and move the stud for the cable to yield more arc travel.
