well I had to go pick up my 70 SF motor from a friends house who is moving, it is currently strapped in the back of my pickup, I am going to take it apart to have the block checked first, this is my first enginge job so bear with me. The motor is stuck and sat under the hood of a 70 GS since 83' I am going to try and get this puppy off the truck and onto a stand myself, should I try to take as much of it down while it is in the truck? Or just get it on the stand and go from there. I PB blasted some bolts last night and broke free 2 fly wheel bolts and let the rest sit. Should I use an air gun to try to free some of the bolts or will I just shear them off. I don't have a cherry picker or a chain fall and am goint to try to slide it out. Advice please! Thanks Kevin[IMG] :Do No:

Hi, bolt the engine stand to the engine while it is still on the truck. You will never be able to lift it by yourself!! You would need at least 4 STRONG guys to pic that thing up whole.

You can then jack up the rear, remove the tires and slowly lower the entire rear of the truck and roll the engine off seucred to the stand. Now just back the rear back up and reinstall the tires.

This is true "backyard" stuff, but it does work well.

Better yet, just let me come over with my collapsible cherry picker and take that old "boat anchor" off your hands. :Brow: Looks like it came off of an a/c car with that 7-blade clutch fan setup.

Hi Phil, Your car is definately my inspiration. I will have to pick your brain as I start digging into this. Going to try to fire my car up with the olds in it today before the snow flies up here in Maine. Thanks for the tips!
