Seriously considering deleting A/C

I'm still trying to figure out if I want to put my A/C back together or not. It's been stripped off the car along with all of the tubes, controls, etc. and I have to put it back together to even consider getting it working. So my dilemma is that none of this stuff is usable in the current condition and I don't have any inclination to spend the hundreds of dollars to put it back together so should I put the major pieces back in or figure out how to delete it and get it going without? I will hang onto the parts of course, but the idea of trying do this having to buy almost all new parts is sort of daunting.

Since you live in Michigan, I vote go without it. It seems like it will be a lot of headaches, alot of money and then.....will it work right after all that effort and $'s.

The factory air systems I've seen for our era cars look like they would not be much fun to install, much less troubleshoot with all the funky switches and vacuum lines.

You shouldn't waste your time or cash. How many times would you "really" need it? Maybe 20 to 30 days out of the year? If you get hot just think of me in this hot tropical hell where you have 70% + humidity and 85 to 92 degree days for half the year.

Keep it a/c, I've needed to use it so much in the past few years that I won't go without it. I've seen quite a few people giving away their perfectly good a/c parts after gutting out their cars for weight reduction. You could probably get it back together easier/cheaper than you think.

I have contemplated getting rid of it for years. probably easier on a 64 as less AC parts.

my vote is stay with it. not hard put together and get it working. remember "fast with class" a gentelman's muscle car.

Keep it in place . 20 or 30 days may not be much ,but , if you go to sell that car later on you've lost a heckuvva lot of value on it . Sooner or later you'd wish you have kept it .

To me, it all depends on how you will use the car.

I use mine as a daily driver, and sometimes I kinda wish I had AC. When I drive the car to work (1 hour each way), it would be nice to have the cooling (and dehumidifying) effect, especially since my car is black.

I also drive the car to BG sometimes, or on some other long trips.

On the other hand, if you just use it as a weekend cruiser or racecar where the car would barely cool down by the time you shut the car off, then I say leave it off. If you have the components you can always reinstall it later, or if a future buyer thinks it will increase the value.

I gotta say that when it is time to work on the engine, it is very nice not to have to deal with all of the extra components under the hood.
