I put up my 455 block and heads as well as the crank of it for sale. On a site something like "craigslist" of switzerland.
Block has corrosion in cylinder 1 and is a bit thin walled. Crank is great as it has never been machined. I stated everything in the ad. Price 500 for the block

So the other day that guy wrote me a whatsapp if the block is still for sale:

    Me: yes
    him: what about the price
me (really hating when the second question already is about the price): yes
    him: how much?
me: do you need anything else? I have matching 75 heads and a nice crankshaft plus rods (me thinking I can help a fellow buick enthusiast with parts)
him: how much for the block alone? how much for everything together?
me: Block 400.00 (CHF and USD almost equal), everything together 800.-
him: wow this is unreal...for this price I can buy a complete table!!
me: well it really is a rather rare buick engine block and no furniture??
him: if you think so. have a nice day...

what are people thinking? I'd like to see him moving around this iron block to mock up a table...he would have probably shown up with a MiniCooper to take it home.
If he called and said he looks for parts to do a glass table atop I would have had no problem. but this texting crap where the second phrase is about the price and how much I can do about it gets me mad...same with selling cars...come and look at the car...but only come here with the intention to buy it for the price advertised if everything is right. If there are any flaws we can discuss it and find a price wich is right...

Things are the same here in Montreal, especially Craigslist. I would almost rather throw things away or give to charity than deal with the pinheads that answered some of my ads.

My .02 are if I want it for a cheaper price then I will offer you what ever and if you accept then I will show up and if it is what you advertised it as then I will pay and take it away. It avoids wasting your and my time if it's not what I want to pay. Don't get me wrong I get it that some people try to talk you down then get there and try to pay less than what they said they would.

Good thing about a 400 lb table is that the wife doesn't keep re-arranging the furniture when you are at work. ;)
