I have my eye on a bench bucket seat from a 1970 Impala. Will the Impala seat fit in my 1971 Skylark?
OK, I did some digging and now I know what these are. Try this link: http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/184352/tp/2/ It has some good discussion and dimensions about these types of seats.
No, full size will not work....you need seats from an A-body.....Cutlass, Chevelle, Lemans, Skylark....and 69-72 Grand Prix and 70-2 Monte Carlo...should be easy to find.
I think what he is referring to was possibly a stratobench seat. Does it look like this: http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/1875683086.html
No - I WISH it looked like that, especially 6 way power with a center armrest! Here's what I saw http://southjersey.craigslist.org/pts/1874452922.html
That looks like a standard split bench seat (no center armrest). Anyway if you are looking for a decent bench seat, I have one available. No rot, no critters, I just removed it from my garage kept 71 Skylark this weekend. Drivers side does have a rip in bottom cushion that I just cover with a seat pad. I'm relatively close in south, central PA and would be willing to meet you half way. Sorry I don't have a rear seat to go with it.
Thanks for the offer but I have to pass. The Girlfriend just now bought us a new aftermarket center console (ebay) to go between our bucket seats. I don't want to get her mad at me. meray: her:rant:
Now the million dollar question...........I've always wondered if A-body bucket seat backs can be retro-fitted to A-body bench seat bottoms. Anyone have any idea if it'll work?
The full size models had that set-up....most common in the 70-72 Rivs and ElDorados. With a welder and some determination, you may be able to make it work...but would need the full size seat to get parts from it and see how GM did it and then adapt the set-up to an A-body seat.
