I have a 1970 GS stage 1 with spilt bench. I have two different types of seatbelts for the car and they are only partial so I am looking at completing the the car with the correct seat belts. I have three belts that are the standard black which are not installed; they either came with the car or were from a different car I had, I don't remeber. I also have the deluxe belts which are only installed in the rear. I am trying to find out which originally came with the car and if the model #'s below are accurate and or need to be matched? Any assistance would be appreciated. Standard black 27A69 Model # 4911 Deluxe 47A69 Model #4912
Don't need to be matched. First 2 digits are the week of the year and I have removed many sets where the belts can differ by 15-20 weeks. You can buy new deluxe covers and black GM buttons. I would go with them. www.thepartsplaceinc.com carries new buckle parts.
If you had Deluxe belts, it would be on the Wayne Roberts documentation. If it's not on there, standard belts belong in there.
Sorry if I seem dense but I have looked at both the info from Wayne and the corresponding order sheet and I do not see deluxe seatbelts anywhere. It has the J3 option "Custom Front and Rear...." Is this the same as deluxe? Thanks
I thought the "Custom Trim" option included color-keyed seatbelts (all around) to match the interior trim color with other interior upgrades (headliner & package tray materials) where as the standard was black seatbelts for all interior trim colors. Is this consistent w/ what you've seen?
I guess I asked the original question incorrectly. I have a black interior so I did not even think about the webbing color as being an option. What I was curious about was the ss buckle/latch( which I called deluxe) vs. the black buckle/latch( which I called black), and how I can determine which originally came with the car.
If your Wayne Roberts documentation does not say anything about seat belts it means your car came with the standard plastic buckles. All other seat belt choices were options and would be shown on your documentation. :beer
What do the metal parts of your belts look like? The picture in my attachment shows a standard belt on the left and a deluxe on the right. The deluxe buckle will work with either metal part but the standard belt will not work with the deluxe metal part. If your car has all of the standard metal ends that will also show you that it came with standard belts. If you have both, I would still think your car had standard belts since it does not show up in your documentation.
>>To go along with what you said, when I removed my black standard seat belts (to replace with deluxe ones) the fronts were from '71 and the rears were from '70!
I'm still not clear as to what is in your Wayne Roberts documentation, but standard belts have a large, black, metal buckle, with the big rectangular hole in the male end, as in Mike Trom's photo. (Mike--standard belts were metal in 70, unlike 68.) Dulexe/Custom belts have the smaller stainless steel buckle, smaller almost square hole in the male ends, and color-keyed webbing.
Thanks, Your descrition helps and we are on the same page as far as standard and deluxe. I am just trying to determine which originally came on the car. Options form Wayne are as follows: A-1 Stage 1 B-2 Auto C-C PS/PB D-C Radio F-7 Tires H-6 Rally Ride I-6 A/C J-3 Custom front and rear seat belts (3) each and custom front shoulder belts (2 each) K-3 Speed alert L-1 Glass O-A Door guards and Remote mirror P-1 Carpet Savers S-7 Tilt U-5 Instrument GRoup W-2 Moldings X-2 Ralley steering wheel *-2 unknown 2-0 Unknown 3-P special paint I was going to only list the ones I thought has anything to do with the seat belts, but I am not sure if the deluxe belts were part of another option. Thanks
