Any opinons on how to improve the ET or pick up the speed are welcome.

Here's some info on the car:
70 Skylark, 455, TH400, TA SP-1 intake, Holley 950, MSD, TA 310 cam, TA Roller rockers, Hooker headers, X-pipe with 3" exhaust, 3:42 gears, 11" 2500 stall. Shift light comes on at 5400 but I'm probably hitting 5600 or more on the shifts.

I'd like to get a new converter, and the car could use some good shocks too. I've also thought about putting in a solid cam but I probably won't go that far this year. I'd like to see 12.0's from this car before I'm "done" :3gears:

    Hey DEL,

Other than the roller rockers, what's the story on the heads? When it comes down to it, that's where all of the power is. Reference Rick Henderson's car that is running 12.00's with a combination not that far off from yours, but with some Gessler heads. Also, his long block is a 30+ year old SF motor with only new bearings.

I would bet you'll gain more from some very good heads than a cam swap. Hopefully I'll have some comparison numbers next year running the 288-96H cam.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I would love to bolt on some TA heads but then again, the car would be a tube-chassied, twin turbo, EFI'd, 455 if money was no object. :beer

I've had a couple cars with roll bars already, and they seem to quickly become garage-queen/money pits after that point. I'd rather rub on what I have here a little and get it to the 12.0's.

Steve, I bought the car with the engine in it so I don't have good specs on the heads. I do know that they've been ported. My guess is the engine probably has less than 10K on it since the rebuild and they did valve springs and all, including new pistons from TA.

The car has 28X12.5 ET Streets that I can still spin on a good track. Something is missing in the suspension department. I'm going to start with good shocks and go from there.

If I win the lottery, I'll buy some TA heads, along with their Lenco shifted wagon!!! :Brow:

Anybody have a cam recommendation? If I do a cam swap I really want to go with a solid lift cam. I am concerned about hurting the lifter bores though.

    Also on the Christmas list:
    Adjustable drag shocks
    Electric Fan
    Mezerie Water Pump
Wilwood brakes (I'm grasping...she'll never go for those)

Ps. It looks like the new goal is 11.50's if I'm reading NHRA's new rule correctly :beer
