Our little town on the Mornington Peninsula, near Melbourne in southeast Australia, hosted the annual ''Rosebud show and shine'' on the seafront yesterday. The weather turned out nice and there were some righteous autos on show....but of course only a handful were Buicks. Sadly my Wildcat was not among them, I only live half a mile away, it needs a head gasket, and I took the Harley for a spin instead.... but here's the Buick input shots.

ONE of the two near identical 65 Rivs was purchased six months ago by the owner for $35,000US ... beautiful car, showroom condition, pretty much original although neither of my eyes is fully trained, but that seemed a fair price for such a lovely example.

I am pretty sure that the two early 1960s cars shown here are connected to this forum via Chris (?) from nearby Mt Martha, though I did not see him....I may have that wrong, apologies if so.

My absolute favourite was the blue 68 Caddy coupe. Just an acre of sheet metal and such a stunning profile. Makes my 'Cat look like a compact!

So many traffic stoppers in general. The town was busy and buzzing all day.

Oddly enough, I was walking my black labrador dawg before the show, thinking if I take him he will just be a pest at the hot dog stand and the fried chicken stand (you know labs!) and right at the end of my street parked in a drive was a 1985 Regal coupe I had never seen before...Queensland plates and small wire-style wheels sitting at an odd angle thanks to some Mexican hydraulics stuff underneath. Had a chat the owner, he'd just bought it. Nice guy. VERY rare to see a Buick anywhere, now there's two on my street! The neighbourhood just improved!

A couple of other oddities you guys may not usually see, alongside the usual Detroit icons at every car show worldwide.....

A vintage European bubble car, brought to you by Messerschmitt from 1956-64
    - yes, the same folks trying to shoot you down over Nazi Germany circa 1940-45....

In the mid 1970s Ford Australia produced a small run of stunning coupes, fairly heavily influenced by the Torino and others in the USA. Both the Fairmont (de luxe model), in blue above (shame about the ghetto-fabulous wheels if you ask me), and the Falcon GT model, in red and black below, were V8 powered, Examples this nice now fetch $75,000US all day long down here. There has been yet another explosion in Australian muscle car prices, for cars by Ford, Chrysler and General Motors that took many US models' styling cues but were never seen outside Australia or New Zealand. There is a particularly rare four-door family sedan produced as a Ford factory hot-rod that fetches half a million dollars now. One sold for that earlier this year. It's astonishing money for a plain-jane looker. Google ''Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III''.....

Chopped Mercury lead sled with at least partly an original Mercury engine got ALL the looks and photos....
