    Maybe I'm just thickheaded.
Why is is so damn difficult to do searches on this forum.

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

I was thinking the same thing while looking for cars in the for sale section. I type in 1970 GSX and I get about 700 things that have nothing to do with a GSX. So I tried GSX drag car and its worse.....then I gave up.

I click on the v8 banner which takes you to the home page. I do my search from that page as it then searches all the different forums. Otherwise if you're in "The Bench" for example, I believe it just searches that section. I could be wrong but that's how I do it.

Sometimes you may just want to search one section though.......depends on what you're trying to find.

Easiest for me has always been through google. If I remember something from a title, or have a specific part number/topic in mind, my search string in google will be something like “correct sport mirror date codes” site:v8buick.com

I always try to remember the member that posted what I'm looking for. Adding the username usually narrows it down quite a bit.

    Difficult how Mike?

For the last several years before the update to the current software, we had virtually no search engine at all. The only issue I have ever had here with this setup is too many results.. you have to be specific on what your looking for.

    How can I help?

The search function on V8Buick.net (when it was active) worked very well. Was it incorporated here with the changeover to XenForo?

Jim, not sure this is a good problem example; earlier in the week I had commented on a thread "Vacuum fitting" and had trouble finding it again to see final resolution. I kept searching under key word vacuumn and coming up dry. Its obvious that I am the one that needs a spell checker but beyond that, it seems that the system is fairly restrictive in what it will allow or use. Typing in a short cut such as "vac" will end up as insufficient info, etc. If I type the word "vacuumn" in this reply it highlights that there is a spelling issue. If I type in a miss spelled word in the search box there doesn't appear to be a spell checker so I end up searching on a word that the system may not find?! Not sure we can foolproof these search features but a spell checker in the search box might help some of us with too much turkey on the brain... ;-)

John, Sometimes it's n̶e̶c̶c̶e̶s̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶n̶e̶c̶e̶s̶a̶r̶y̶ ̶n̶e̶c̶e̶s̶a̶r̶r̶y̶ required to search for other key words that you might remember. Especially when spelling might be an issue. Sometimes my spelling is so bad that I find a different way to say something.

I searched the board for fittings and added PCUB to the search in the posted by member box and found five results. In the one below, you did use the word "vac".
