Got my Stage 2 headed motor together and it seemingly worked fine on the dyno and when back in the car for an hour or so.Then a lot of roughness and hammering from the valvetrain area.Tore it down again and it appears there is at least one lifter that is failing but fortunately the cam looks ok.I don't want to trust another set of regular lifters ever again. While I don't have the spare coin to do so I am going to put in a set of Schubeck hydraulics to end this nightmare once and for all.The lifters that were in the car for about 2k were bought from Lunati and worked reasonably well over the last two years although on the occasional startup there could be slight noise from one or two for 5 seconds or so.I expect the change to the new heads with TA springs(more pressure) likely broke the camel's back as it were.Anyone else experience the same problem especially after the motor had been run for a couple of thousand miles?Has anyone seen any downside to the Schubecks other than price?I believe that Jim Burek in an older post commented that he has had good luck with same-would be great for back to back cam tests as no break in is required. Will let you know how I make out.Rod

    Rod,
I was real close to laying out the coin for the Schubeck's until I finally got a good set of lifters, (it took three full sets). Hard to believe you have to spend as much for a set of lifters as you do pistons.
I'll be real interested in hearing how they work for ya, the idea of being able to use them with multiple cams may end up making them a bargain in the end.

Elimated any potential problems in my stage 2 engine...I went to solids! The 308S actually idles better than the big Lunati hydraulic I had in there the first time. I've yet to take it for a test drive though. Another 8 days of work and then back to get the rest of the car road-worthy enough for a test drive. :TU:
