Driving a wedding in the '39 Rolls (not mine) This is the first outing since it was wrecked and repaired. (I wasn't driving it when it wrecked)
Finally getting my '55 Special roadworthy after 15 yrs since I bought it. Life ( and money ) got in the way. Just finished up removing my '56 trans that slipped in Drive, installed '55 parts car trans after doing complete external seal-up. Trans pulls good and has that "passing gear" in Drive. Also rebuilt power booster and MC, ( thank you Mudbone ) Going to install 4 new tires Monday and head to the inspection station. Woo-Hoo! Can't wait to hit the highway for it's first good test drive since I have owned it. By the way, bought new Monroe 5759 shocks for the front from O'Reilly at $25.99 each. They are an exact fit, no modifications. They did improve handling, next step is sway bar upgrade..................John Link to Parts Car Treasure: http://forums.aaca.org/topic/287919-parts-car-treasure-55-special/#comment-1563469
Into second week of restoring the interior in the 1967 Sportwagon. Seats are at interior shop and I get to strip out all the hardware in this 3 seat wagon. Have been wire brushing, priming, sanding, and repainting all the parts that go with the interior including window moldings etc. Cleaned the floor from front to back and will be installing Dyna Mat starting tomorrow. Will be awesome when finished end of next week. I am going to do a resto post and show the progress of interior redo and installation of 67 GS 400 rebuilt engine to make it a Sportwagon GS400 clone.
We stayed in all day. I think we made the right choice. There was a dusting of snow. The roads had some slick spots. Too many non-drivers couldn't seem to keep their vehicles under control while doing whatever else was more important. Only left the confines of our home to get the mail. Wife made bread. Might say we loafed. No serious plans for today either.
Raining here in Florida. We need it badly. Doing a bit of minor remodeling in our remaining bathroom. The other bath is at a point of emptiness. My beloved bride hired a contractor who didn't want to act as the general contractor, so guess who got stuck finding plumbers, glass installers, etc. At present nothing is happening as the plumber says he can't get the parts he needs. Grrr. I did the electrical work so that's not a problem. Friends are coming over later this PM, so will do a little cleaning up first.
