Same bidder, two different bid times?

I've noticed a trend. The same bidder on an item will be the high bidder twice, but the bid times are days apart. What does that mean? :Do No:

If you mean the bidders name is high bidder twice in a row (he is in first and second place), I would say he isn't comfortable in believing his proxy bid is high enough, and he's afraid he's going to lose to a sniper, so he bid even higher.

proxy bid. It can sometimes be a way to discourage other bidders.

Yes, that's what I mean. Thanks for the tip.

  5. I've done that before too. I'll have placed an early bid at what I felt I was willing to pay, then also realized I would not be able to be online at the auction's end, and decide to increase my proxy.

    Yep, I've done that too.

Another reason to wait is when you are NOT sure you want to increase the proxy...:Comp:
