I'm thinking seriously about getting rid of my 03 Deville wit 93K on it. The car is in under warranty for its second used engine:puzzled: ( aftermarket warranty-bought the car used from a dealer ) for a grand total of 3 engines and this is not countin the transmission thats having problems to be addressed once the engine is in. I have 10k left on the warranty, and would like to get rid of the car with some warranty on it to protect the next buyer. I cant afford to keep this thing!!! Was thinking about getting an 03 or so Crown Vic or Town car. I LOVE my caddie but need sth similar in size/luxury/comfort that is US made.
    Advice/comments??

That sounds like it would have been a good candidate for the clunker program..Crown Vics and Grand Marquis are both good cars. They should be, that platform has been used under them since 1979..

Lots of them for sale in Fla. Fly over, drive one back.

My friend, Rob, picked up an 01 Olds Aurora with under 15k miles on it down there for $8k. Gorgeous car.

If your going to consider a Crown Vic, look into getting the P71-Police Interceptor. They look like fun to drive. And there seems to be an abundance of them for sale

Sorry to hear about your problems with the Caddy. I would be thinking the same way as you. Dump it while you can.
Without a doubt the finest car I ever had was my 99 Deville, and I will have another one. Not sure what to think about all the engine and transmission problems that you've had.
I bought mine with low miles when it was about 3 years old from a Cadillac dealer and had no problems. Good power and could get very close to 30 MPG from it. Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose.

I've been driving a 2005 Crown Vic Police Interceptor for the past two years and am really impressed. That's coming from someone who used to hate Fords. From the sound of it, you'd rather trade a little of the power and handling to get more cush, so a Mercury Grand Marquis might be perfect. As Dave said, this platform as been around forever, and Ford kept making little improvements to it every year or two.

If luxury is really important to you, you can't beat the value of buying a used Town Car. Same basic platform as the Crown Vic, just more wheelbase and more cush. For whatever reason, these things depreciate faster than most every car out there; I think there's millions of retirees out there who go out and buy a new Town Car every two years or something. Their loss is your gain.

I passed a black one Monday here in Brighton, looked like brand new. Guy driving it made me look young...and that's not easy to do.

Have a coupla friends that have well over 200k on their 92-93 era Olds Ninety Eights with the 3.8 Buick engine. Virtually trouble free except one just put a new trans (FWD) in it. Drives and rides like a new car. Personally I think they're butt ugly....
