I believe the S10 used a version of the T5. It wouldn't last long behind a 455 for sure.

    I had an '82 S-10 with the T5 in it behind a 2.8L V-6 and destroyed 3 of them. I wouldn't put it behind a 455 for sure.

Even a World Class T5 wouldn't put up with a BB's TQ for long.

I'd probably look for a good 6 spd. behind an LT1.....or maybe a used Richmond 5 spd.

I have also scattered a few T5s in my day. the t5 has alot of issues. first off, all the 6 cylinders used a 1", 14 spline input shaft. a muncie or equivilant is a 1 1/8" 10 or 26 spline clutch. this means a custom clutch. Also, the back case of the tranny will need to be changed since the shifter is in the middle of the T-5 in s 10 applications, where as a firebird/camaro t-5 is at the rear of the tranny. not worth it. T5 was a joke. GM never put one behind a TPI 350 for warranty reasons. The 350 TPI cars were only mid 14s cars anyway...

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

Hey, Bobo, I get credit for one of them in Florida!!! :moonu:
We took out several more clutches, too. Man did we get fast replacing those. We could get it in and out in less than an hour!! From this :af: to this :3gears: in an hour. No one would believe us til we did it for them, 2 or 3 times!!

It's more like the jar lid. I just loosened it up for you! :moonu: I will give you credit for "rat's nesting" the clutch though. Damn fine job! :TU:
That poor truck. :ball: And to think it ran 17.61 at KCIR back in '86-87. Maybe why the trans kept detonating??? :Smarty: :Dou:

I ran a Saginaw behind my 455 for 2 years. It shifted great and when I pulled the inspection cover, everything still looked good inside. I think the Saginaw is not as bad as some folks make it out to be, although if you plan on drag racing the car or running drag radials or slicks, I would probably look for something stronger.

If your near the Chicago area I have the above Saginaw that I have no use for since swapping over to a Muncie. :3gears:
