I had a 455:BUILT" and installed it in a 71 Riviera. First time out, the car quits as soon as you romp it. I removed the fuel tank thinking there was dirt. It was clean as new and the sock looked good. I replaced all the rubber fuel line, replaced the fuel pump na d installed a new 800 cfm quad. You come off the line and the car stops. Will only start if you put your hand over the carb and choke it. Is there anyting in the fuel tak unit that could be wrong? I am really at a loss on this one.
Are the fuel lines in the stock location and did the car originally come with a 455? If not, maybe vapor lock is occuring (due to new fuel-line routing or a new 455 heat-source near a line) and starving the bowl of enough fuel? If it does it when cold, then maybe not......
