OK finally got the M & H engine harness in and proceeded to short circuit the + battery cable (starter side) to the heat shield. Nice fireworks!!!:Dou: :Dou: And now she's alive... BUT now it wont turn off. I have an MSD 6al and one of Daves distributors. I did not have this problem b4. But I changed a bunch of stuff. Installed the ignition (everything), new engine harness, new turn signal switch/harness and carb. Hummmmm... I cant think of anything else....

Key shuts off but wont turn to lock and when it is turned off/accesory the gen light lights...:Do No:

    Im lost now...

Should the MSD have its own ground (to body, besides to - bat.)

    Thanks

    Michael

Soo, it looks like I insert the diode in the brown (not red) wire that goes into the alternator....

    Am I correct or....

Hi, I'm the one that went through this. Yes, clip the brown wire. I cut mine as far away from the connector as I could. I soldered half the job on the bench by removing the brown wire from the connector. Then just put it back and solder the other end. I used some black shrink over it to seal it. You can't even see it unless you know what you're looking for. I put all new wiring under the hood and did not like cutting into it either.

But it totally solved the run-on problem and looks great. I'm horrible with anything electrical, but if I could do it, it must be a piece of cake. Good luck.

It is likely that the fireworks show damaged the little diode in the brown wire that the MSD people suggested be used for the run on problem. Before cutting anything, try replacing the diode, or obtaining one from MSD. They are free and it comes with directions for installation. Ray
