I know this is probably an old one but I can't seem to get a definative answer regarding the measurement from crank centreline to deck of block. According to some its around 226mm while I've seen others quote up to 229mm.

I know it depends on if the blocks been decked but there must be a 'standard' measurement for an un-decked block. If anyone knows for certain what the factory fresh measurement is then I'd sure appreciate hearing from you.

    All the best

It's officially: 227.41mm to 227.58mm. Usually closer to the high end. The fudge factor is depending on how hot or cold it was when the blocks were finish machined. Always have the machine shop check it for you, to be sure. You can never know who has fiddled with things unless you've had the motor since it came off the assembly line. Or even on the assembly line (it's B.L. remember?).
Use the low end as baseline for stroking calculations and have the block decked to match. A perfect head gasket surface is a beautiful thing.
