    Hey Guys,

We have a 1970 block that's bored .040 over. Do you need to consider this when ordering new head gaskets? Do they make larger head gaskets for bored engines? I see a selection of different thicknesses over at TA, but I don't think I saw anything about bore sizes.

    Thanks for the info,

    Dave

You have a what cid 70 motor?
    For example , a stock Bore on a 455 is 4.312", at .045" over that's 4.357".
A Cometic head gasket for example will accommodate a Bore of 4.385" , so you would be good with using such!

Felpro Head gaskets are 4.385 so no worries.

I'm usually good about supplying that info. Yeah, 455. Thanks for the replies.

That's alright Grandpa, most people knew what you meant seeing how you posted in the 400/430/455 street/strip section it would only make sense that you are working on a 455 seeing how that was the only BBB they built in 1970.;)

Now if in you came back and said WOW, 4.385" diameter for a 3.840" bore!? Then most people would realize that you had a sbb 350 because that was the only sbb they built in 1970 and you posted in the wrong spot. But seeing how that wasn't the case here, I don't see any problem the way you wrote your #1 post.
