Hey Guys, We have a 1970 block that's bored .040 over. Do you need to consider this when ordering new head gaskets? Do they make larger head gaskets for bored engines? I see a selection of different thicknesses over at TA, but I don't think I saw anything about bore sizes. Thanks for the info, Dave
You have a what cid 70 motor? For example , a stock Bore on a 455 is 4.312", at .045" over that's 4.357". A Cometic head gasket for example will accommodate a Bore of 4.385" , so you would be good with using such!
That's alright Grandpa, most people knew what you meant seeing how you posted in the 400/430/455 street/strip section it would only make sense that you are working on a 455 seeing how that was the only BBB they built in 1970. Now if in you came back and said WOW, 4.385" diameter for a 3.840" bore!? Then most people would realize that you had a sbb 350 because that was the only sbb they built in 1970 and you posted in the wrong spot. But seeing how that wasn't the case here, I don't see any problem the way you wrote your #1 post.
