I have read in several places that the romac balancer for the 455 requires a longer bolt. Does anyone know how long? I found the ARP balancer bolt is listed as 1.3 inches below the head with 13/16 head and 5/8"-18 threads. They also list one for a KB hemi that has a 1 1/16 head and 1.42 inches below the thread with the same threads.

Does anyone know if the lenth of the stock bolt and if the hemi bolt will be long enough for the Romac balancer? Also, stock bolts are 1 1/8" heads would 13/16 be too small?

    Thanks, Jeff

My Romac balancer came with a bolt an inch longer than stock. And was supplied with no washer. The bolt bottoms out before the stock washer is anywhere near the balancer. My very first 455 was built up along side of a buddies 440. 2 weeks later running the 455 hard I had a severe vibration. The balancer moved out. My bottom pully never lined up. The balancer was almost separated. I had the 440 balancer bolt in my crank. :Dou:  :af: It will never happen to me again. I'll always check and see if the bolt will go in farther than enough without the washer first. I'd get the proper bolt from TA. And double check. Just My 2 cents. Good Luck!

Hey Beast, did you get your balancer from TA? I have heard they include the bolt. I will be receiving mine in the mail tomorrow from Maddog at Fast Engine Parts. I asked him about a balancer bolt and he told me he didn't care them.
