Hi, what roller lifters fits to 401/425 block? I have seen roller cams to nailheads, but never seen roller lifters Example TA offer only cams,no roller taps. What lifters people are used? Thanks, -Joni
You need to call TA Performance. It makes no sense to me that TA has hydraulic roller cams for the nailheads, but no hydraulic roller lifters. I'm sure they have the lifters. I don't see it on the website, but I don't find that unusual. Call them.
I bought a set of solid rollers from TA a couple of months ago Reminder that you will need a cam button Roger
I´m asked that via email from TA,few times ago,at same time when i´m asked cam and engine kit,and what kind of cam and parts they recommend for my car,but i never got second reply for the my questions.Maybe they dont want poor man moneys Cant be true that,no one dont know, what roller lifters nailheads used in ´50s example with 505 roller cams :eek2: Is it some big secret thing? I know that 455 lifters fits to 401 block and some one told too, that SBC has a same measurement taps.Is true i dont know, but have to check out it and if its true, i will try to modified solid rollers for the nailhead. It cant be a rocket sciences.
:TU::beers2: Thanks! Lets thinking about if the bar link is too long between tappets and its not removable with some screw( like in your pics), maybe its possible shortened bar link and weld it up by tig. Okay of course every links have to be in right dimensions, but i dont think so its a big problem. This modified only for because SBC tappets are quite cheap and you can get them from everywhere.
Here's some pix of my Isky roller lifters and rev-kit plus and pix of the cam for my blower motor I'm going to build some day
:boring: Hi, I measured the lifter bore centerlines,on a 401 and a 425. In looking in an old Comp Cams Catalog; Roller Lifter Link Bars Chart. Hint: SBFord is close, -.012" by my measurements. I bought Comp SBChevy Roller Lifters/ SB Ford Link bars. SBChevy REV Kit Springs and Buttons (top of lifters). I will need to make custom buttons though, for the block. Custom length push rods, too. This will involve some careful set-up, measuring, creativity, and machine work. I have not built the motor yet, but I'm pretty sure I can make it work. For a street car and a mild cam, I'm not sure you need the rev kit. I want one, so I will do the extra work involved. Carmen at J & C's Parts, N. Tonawanda used to have the link bars for the roller lifters, too! Give him a call! 716-693-4090 HTWOODS
Hi Roger, The engine is beautiful, but I have always been a bit nervous about painting the inside of a motor...
John, Paint is Glyptal, I used it on previous engines (427 Chevy's in a former life), helps seal the cast iron and speeds oil back to the pan. Have to make sure the block is very clean. I'll be posting more pics / info on the engine build as I get closer to dyno time Roger
