I have a tap in one of my rockers on my 70 455. It has the original rockers and pushrods. Which one wears first? I want to get it fixed and replace the right part the first time. The rocker shaft is new.

Which side is it? Is it just ONE lifter tapping or ALL of them?

sounds like drivers side front. Cyl # 1 I believe.

It is quite common for standard Buick lifters to crap out. Many of us run Chevy lifters with custom-made pushrods (the deeper cup in the shibby lifters require a longer pushrod).

    10-1 bet it's those aluminum rockers/shafts.

    I would inspect that first.

The shaft is new. I guess I will try new rockers.
