Thanks Jim, Something else to worry about, but needed info. TA 413 cam, so not huge, but still more pressure on the shafts. Coming on here each day is like being back at school, except this stuff is fun to learn.

The 413 cam should be fine with those shafts. you could also add some strengthening caps under the bolts to spread out the load, like what they used under the bolts of the 400/430 rockers. I think TA sells these also. Jim Burek

Cant you take our worn shaft flip it upside down and drille new holes for plastic clips. It would seem you have a fresh surface to work with?

Jim, Can I use a used set of 430 caps??? If so, do I need longer bolts? Ta already has caused me a near second mortgage. Can't afford much more right now. Engine sounds great now. No weird pushrod noise at high RPM's. I installed the new rockers and a set of Crane HD custom length pushrods. Can't explain the noise, but I describe as the pushrods singing at about 3 grand and up. Could the adjust. ones been flexing and rubbing?? The rods were a little shiny at the entry of the head hole. They didn't rub at idle though.

Yeah, I read that now that the heads are on. I see many people on here running the TA-413 and know most probably did not open the holes up. So, why me all the time? These are the commonly used 70 heads too. If it will happen, it will happen to me I guess!

I'm running the same TA 413 cam like you but I did have the holes opened up on my 70 heads, just for extra insurance. I know it sucks but it's what your going to have to do.

Where are you located ? I'm about an hour from bristol TN. in southwest VA.

The rockers caps from a set of 400/430 rockers should work fine, you can use the 400/430 bolts as well. You could also use caps from the 68/69 350 rockers as well, they are not as wide as the 430's , but will still supply some extra strength. Jim Burek
