When I bought the 455 motor for my Car, the rocker arm assemblies were not in the heads. I am wondering if they are attached back to the head only by bolts thru the holes in the shaft or if there aren't some u-shaped retainers that are used to hold them down. I know this is probably old hat for the bulk of everybody but my knowledge of the bolt-ups on this motor isn't there yet. Also are the stock aluminum rockers and pushrods OK for a mild street build(aluminum intake, postons 112 cam, headers... nothing crazy)Thanks for the help. (These are stage 1 heads):Do No:

    Rich,
The shaft bolts go through the shaft with NO u-clips. They are torqued to 25 ft lbs. Stock aluminum rockers should be fine as long as they fit on the shaft OK, and there isn't too much wear. It is a very good idea to use adjustable pushrods to make the valvetrain adjustable. When the engine is rebuilt, the deck and the heads are usually surfaced, and aftermarket cams necessitate an adjustable valvetrain to get the lifter pre load right.
