hey guys.. how do you get rid of some of the bog in a q-jet?

it wasnt this bad b4 or I just got used to it being lousy.

If I punch the gas it "bogs" if i let up a little it has more get up and go.

I have the air cleaner lid fliped upside down so I can hear the intake noise and it seems to havce more get up if its not making noise (the majority of the time)... could this also be an ignition problem in the advance curve/just timing? I have mine set to factory specs (i think 9 degrees with the advance disconnected)

sometimes though the carb is beautiful and the tired old 350 pulls like a diesel dualie.

the 2ndary pulll in was disconnected when i got the carb for a rebuild. I replaced that and i notice that this could be part of the problem.

    suggestions needed

the bog goes away some if I put the air cleaner on normally but generaly loose high end pull.

The secondary air valve is out of adjustment. It is a small spring loaded alen screw on the passenger side by the choke pull off. Make small adjustments of like 1/8 of a turn at a time.

yea... i think i need to replace that spring.

it was twisted pretty good before I got this carb. will the spring out of nearly any q-jet work?

it seems to do it before the 2ndarys open though.
