Well it was good to be back racing again after a year and a half off,Norwalk is such an incredible place to race.I'm sure alot of people dont relize how lucky we are to be able to have that race there, hats off to Roberta & Bill as usual.I also wanted to say how awesome it is to hang out with people that truly live and breath buick! Poor Dougie loses and engine and who steps up but good ole Bruce Hunter to the rescue(your one of a kind Bruce)I wasn't there to see the mad thrash but i'm sure it was,i know it didn't end the way doug would of wanted but i salute him and all his east coast buddies :beer for the dedication and love of buicks and racing that they show year after year(wow)Keep your chin up Doug, i know your probably bummed but motors can rebuilt and more important is the great freinds you have.Oh and John sorry again bout the .000 :3gears: :Do No: in the final i know you had to be pi$$ed  and thanks for not letting Robin kick my butt :spank: Hopefully everybody will be in bowling green, not sure if i will be or not so good luck to everyone.Hurry up next yr! :)

Hats off to Roberta and Bill along with their crew again for an OUTSTANDING EVENT!!!!! For those who decided to listen to the weather predictions and stayed away...phoey. I talked with Doug Hecker prior to the event when we saw the rain predictions. He just told me, "Rick after all the work we crammed into the cars in the last two weeks, I'm going! And if I'm going, your getting your ass out there too!!"

I'm extremely glad I did. Like I said in the past this in one event that should be a MUST ATTEND on your list. The track facility it top notch along with the staff at Norwalk Raceway. Traction??? Well let's just say my 60' times were in the 1.25 - 1.28 range. It was stickier than fly paper!

Can't wait until next year! Oh and Bill, next time I won't pull the chute on ya in the finals  Great race!

Hats off to Roberta and Bill and everyone else that made this event happen. We all had a great time. A special thanks goes to Raceway Pontiac/GMC in Norwalk. This dealership opened its service doors on Saturday so that we could use the shop to change Doug's engine! I know no dealer would do that in NY. Bruce Hunter,John Schmidt and Harold Rolls went up and way beyond this weekend in the name of friendship. I know I will never forget it even though it did not end the way we all wanted. At least Rick Miller from our chapter won the Quick 16. Between Norwalk and Cecil I think we are finally starting to bring back some money to the east coast. I think the mid west guys are going to step up for Cecil!

    Motor Dilema,

I would like to thank Harolod Rolls, John Schmidt, John Csordas, and Nancy, JohnJr. and Jill, and other's that stopped buy to help in anyway possible, this was a difficult task and only accomplished with friends!! Hardwork was the only way to make this happen and it did.
Doug, You have a great team of friends, do NOT feel bad, things happen, it was not your day. as we agreed, Beer and A/C in my trailer at BG!! and all are welcome to stop and say HI!!!

John, I know of no dealer anywhere that would do that. How in the world did you guys convince them to allow non-employees to use their facilities?

If I had known I could have used a lift I would have changed my flexplate! I am sure 5 or 10 years ago I would have changed it in the dirt (because I have done it before).

I had fun taking pictures (see Norwalk Pictures thread). Because my car broke I actually had a non working vacation for the first time in years. Not that racing is really work but it is harder than taking pictures.

I would like to thank everyone and eveything because my vacation was so enjoyable from the track employees to the service at the Eagles lodge to the clerks and toll booth attendants to Arby's and the other Buick enthusiasts and club members and even the lower gas prices in Ohio.

    It appears to be??

It appears to be a '67 Skylark as the front quarter gills are '67. And the hood appears to be '67 Skylark (except for the intake tubes). I need to raise the front end on mine but I don't think I need that much? Couch

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support. It helps to have such good friends and I can't thank you enough. I know you guys were as happy as I was, however briefly, to have my car blast down the track on Sunday after all that work swapping motors on Saturday. Those few joyous hours on Sunday were great, right up until the deafening explosion and smoke filled the car until I could barely see the end of the track. Bruce, once again, I wish it had turned out better, but thanks for the loaner. John, John Jr, Moses, and Harold....You guys really came through and I appreciate it. Nancy and Jill, thanks for the moral support. Everyone else, just for the record, before my engine let go on Friday, it ran 8.92 at 151.36. On Sunday, Bruce's engine ran 9.24 at 144.61. Both motors launched the car to 1.25 60 foot times. I'm now parked until the Bulldog block appears, hopefully soon. I'm not dropping another dime into another 30 year old boat anchor of a block unless there is no other alternative. I did have a good time at Norwalk once again, although I would've liked to have had more time to hang out with everyone at the hotel and spent less time messing around with the car. Oh well, there's always next year! :)

A special thanks to all of you who came to Norwalk this year despite all the false weather reports.I know both Roberta and I appreciate all the kind words and we are already planning on next year.Let me say that all of you out there are one classy group of people, everything from those who were helping Doug to those who lifted the car off Bruce and volunteered to help him and his family when that situation arose made me see once again that despite all we are a close Buick family and that is something to be proud of.As far as the racing goes, some of us here in Ohio need to practice on our finish line technique a little, let's see,Ohio guys Steve .008 light/ breakout, myself .003/breakout,Gary good light(don't have the number)on brakes and oops let him slide by.At least we got to the final.Yes Rick the parachute works just fine, got a good look at it.Thanks again all and hope to see you soon,BW

John Stevens seems to be getting used to final rounds way to go buddy. I would doubt that John is upset about getting beat by a .000 light not much can be done to cover that. I was bored, depressed and frustrated without a car, frozen from the weather and still somehow had a great time.

My son Chris is probably too busy with Cub Scouts ( he has 5 sons) to answer you , but I will try. The "Anti Rice" is actully built from a 66 and a 67 that were given to him. He built the straight axle and the air cleaner box which makes it look like it is injected. It runs a 455 with an old Lunati cam and is essentially a stock engine. He built the headers like the old "High and Mighty" Mopar and it runs a HEI ignition. He ran 13.2s at 100 and when he gets it sorted out will undoubtly be in the 12s

Jim,We actually had 22 cars try to make the show but after the the last qualifying session we had only 13 make the call,I believe.Even the alternates broke.I don't think anyone had any real problems with traction but add good bite with very cool air and that just ads to breakage.Sorry we didn't see you.The bump would have been well in the 9's but due to breakage we did have a couple 10sec. cars.Jim Dotson was number one with a best run in the 8.26 range.
