    69conv Thats a BUICK!?

    I know a guy that bought a 455riv motor as a spare incase the motor in his '67 riv blew. He doesn't remember what year it came out of though, so can anyone tell me what markings and where they are to identify it?:Do No: I havn't seen it, it belongs to my brothers friend. I am curious because I can get the motor for nothing if I paint his riv for him. So I'm thinking if its one of the more powerfull years, I might drop it in my 69 Skylark:3gears:

    Please put your name in your signature,
    it's better to "talk" on a first name base :beer

    First look if this is a real 455: Valve covers should have 5 nuts, and on top of the bell housing,
    you should find 455 (<--about that size)

    There should be a 2 letter ID number on the block, between spark plugs #1 and #3

    Post this code on this board, and I'm sure we can help you a little bit better.

    1970 first letter of code = S
    1971 = T
    1972 = W
    1973 = X
    1974 = Z
    1975 = AF code
    1976 = SA, or SB for California.

    You can also post the casting numbers on the block.
