Hey guys. I am new to this website and I am also new to Buicks. I just recently bought a 71 skylark and I am totally clueless on offset/backsping on this car. Just wanted to know what tires/rims sizes I need to fill up the fenderwells of the car without modifications to the fenders. Also does anyone know if the skylark suspesion is pretty much the same as a chevelle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!o No:
Stock backspacing on the factory 15X7 wheels was about 4". The closest tire size to the G60-15 was P245/60R-15 which fills up the wheel wells on these cars nicely. Some guys use 255's or even 275/60R-15's in the rear, but that effects your gearing and speedo error. Basic Chassis design is the same as a chevelle being it's an A body but Spring rates are different because Buick engines are lighter in weight. Hope that helps ya out. Larry
Thanks for the response. It really helps me out a lot. I found some wheels around my area that has 3 1/2 inch backspacing 15X8 with 255-60-15. It fits on his chevelle perfectly, that's why I was wondering if the suspension on all A bodies were basically the same. Thanks!
