I don't know if anybody actually rechromes complete original wheels. I think they have to separate the rim from the center, which may ruin the rim. The Buick rallyes like Specialty Wheel sells are actually a remanufactured wheel. They use the original centers and weld them into a new rim, which is done after each are chromed.
Jim, Do you know about what it usually runs to have that place restore them ? I would like to do that with the 5 originals for the Stage 1 conv. Tim
www.nu-chrome.com does them. I'm restoring a `70 GSX right now and I sent the WGs 11 weeks ago so I should be hearing from them anytime now (they told me 8-12 weeks). They're $350 apiece. Bill
Not sure if you still need the info but I had my rally wheels rechromed for my 64 riviera by Pico Wheel in So-Cal. He checks them to see that they are true before he chromes them and charged me $800 for 4 wheels. He's an old Buick guy as well with an mid 60's buick under cover awaiting resto in his shop.
