Anybody know what height in inches from level ground to the top of the wheel well on 71 GS should be? Tires and wheel size are 255/60/15 on 15X7.Thanks.

If I remember correctly you do NOT mesure to the wheel well but to the bottom of the frame there is a correct mesurement for the front and rear for your car any tire size change will affect that greatly. I use different size tire to get the look I want but you should be able to get the "correct" height for your car some one who has a shop maunual ( frame and alingment spec's ) should be able to give it to you

If i remember correctly that should help

9.74" front & 9.43" rear , at the bottom of the rocker. These are the stock ride heights per GM. You will have to allow for your tire size.

Thanks, guys. Steve when you say bottom of the rocker,do you mean under the front and rear of the door at the bottom were the body starts up. Does that make sense? Sorry I can't think of a better way to say it.

Excluding trim, such as rocker mouldings. Measure from the flat, horizontal face on the bottom of the rocker panel. This is the piece of steel directly under the door.
Front measurement taken 1'' to the rear of the front door gap.
Rear taken 63" to the rear of the front point, or 64" to the rear of the front door gap.
The measurements I posted first are for a '71 455 GS. I see now yours is a 350.
    Front: 9.74, Rear: 9.73 = same as a 455 car.
Another measurement shown is from the ground to the inside lip of each fender well.
    '71 GS 350 front: 26.52", rear 24.32"

    Hope this helps.
