The battery in my '70 GS455 is currently mounted in the trunk from the previous owner (can you say 1/4 mile runs?). I plan to put it back in the front. What is the proper connction from batt to engine (ground wire), frame (ground wire)? Connecting the starter +12V is very straight forward. How about the +12V to the ret of the car? I'd like to put it back the way it should be.

There are three wires that go onto the starter main power post. The large #2 wire from battery and two red about #10 gauage wires that are the main power to the rest of the car.

I would put the negitive wire from the battery under the bolt on the head that is used on the rear mount for the air condition, if equiped.

I think that is how the factory installed it.

Michael, Thanks for your input. Do you know the proper connection from engine to the body and/or frame of the car for negative (ground)? I assume one negative cable from batt to engine, then a strap between engine and car? I'm missing the strap and need to resolve that. Is there a connection from neg post of batt to body/frame? Thanks!

I should have said there are one big #2 wire and four on a stock setup. two red main power wires, one purple starter "start" wire (to "S" on starter)(also about #10) and yellow (color might very) wire that goes from the "R" on the starter to the positive post on the coil.

While at The BPG event this weekend , I remembered this post and took a picture of one of the setups on a concourse car.

I was thinking the battery negitive cable bolted stright to the right head (1), but to goes behind one of the mounting bolts for the alternator (2)

Michael, Many thanks for the information and for taking the picture! I appreciate your kind help. Parts arrived today to move the batt back where it belongs so I'll get started.
