    Howdy,

Who makes the best power lock, electric trunk release, keyless entry setup? I just like locking my car from the outside not so much for the inside yet so I really don't care what kind of switchs it uses on the inside since I'll probably add the "Generic" GM chrome rockers if I do add inside switches at all. I've got the doors totally apart for a repaint so I was thinking its the perfect time to take care of this part of the upgrades.

    Thanks,

The easiest way to get remote locks and trunk is an alarm system. Why not add a little security as well as functionality. I've added this to my Centurion and it's wonderful. If you install it yourself you can avoid the super sensitive alarm syndrom. If it has a shock sensor they are usually adjustable. I have a hidden connector that lets me easily disable the siren for storage or repair work.

You can walk up to the passenger side door while clicking the remote in your pocket. Casually open the door for your lady, subtle and slick.

I wasn't sure about the trunk release but installed it anyway. It's amazing how frequently I use it. Getting at tools with grimy hands or putting in groceries with an armload come to mind.

The only problem I've had is the alarm sends out a pulse to unlock the doors and it's a bit too short to unlock them if it's cold. I'm still pondering ways around that. Some form of capacitor to extend the signal, but I don't want to drain the battery constantly keeping the capacitor charged.

The best solution would probably to get a better alarm system, mine is ancient.
