I have stayed away from 68 or older Skylark/GS cars because they didn't have a headrest- good thing, my son got rear-ended in my 70 Skylark Custom and wasn't hurt- but I really like some cars I see...is it a big deal to effectively install headrests in a car that wasn't designed with them? thanks
The non-headrests seats are the same. All you have to do is get the headrest post inserts and hardware. Problem is you can not buy those items new. So, best bet is to use the seats w/headrests already.
Just FYI on the pre-68 cars: I was able to buy 1966 Skylark seats with the headrests from Mike Garrison, who was parting out a car. They were listed on the 1966 dealer sheets as an option. I also have factory-looking shoulder belts, attached to the roof anchors that GM built into the late-1966 and 67 cars, but didn't use until the '68 models.
