The lens on my rearview mirror (interior one, not exterior one) has all kinds of yucky spots.

Does anyone replace the mirror / lenses in these?

(This is in my '69 Special)

    Thanks,

    -Bob Cunningham

The guide non map light mirror with the stainless backs are reproed. I have replaced many a lens on the map light mirrors but just the re-silvering and shipping costs are close to the cost of a new repro non map light mirror.

    Jim,

What is a "guide" non-map light mirror? Do you know who repro's these, or at least who sells these?

    Kia,

I could not find any offer for Buick mirrors (or even Chevy mirrors) on his site. Do you have an auction number? He seems to be all about the Chevys.

    Thanks,

Yep, I saw him too. He said he gets around 70-75 bucks for a resilvering on a 12 inch maplite mirror.

Any Chevy parts place like Ausley (www.chevelle.com) or Poncho like www.Ames.com . You might try Ground Up Reso for a discount. Guide was the manf. 's name. They are as good as new. I have bought them for as little as $ 45. And Yesteryear has just come out with some more like the 66 style with the twist knob.

    Fantastic information, thanks guys.

I wasn't sure if the mirrors were the same as the other A-bodies. In any case, I think I'll contact this Kaufmann fellow first.

    Thanks!

Do you guys know anyone who repros the stainless backed rearview mirror w/maplight? Not the mirror, but the stainless back? Or do anyone of you know if anyone repros just the rubber piece that the mirror glues onto?

To my knowledge they are not remade and sold retail. I say that because you would think that if you can contact the current manufacturer of Guide the rubber ring is again being remade for the repro nonmap mirrors.

Another source for a brand new rearview mirror with maplight is from Ground Up www.ss396.com.

From what I've read in their catalog the mirror sells for around $70.

So even if they dont repro the stainless back, what about that rubber ring?? It is the same as the non maplight rearview mirror, can you just buy one of these seperately???
