I know this has been asked before but what is the backspacing on the Buick 15x7" rim to be close to the GS "WG" style wheel. Is it a 4" backspacing that is correct for this appearance? Who has experience with Coker or Wheel Vintiques or others, anyone done a comparison? Summit Racing has Wheel Vintiques at $125 with 4" backspacing which I believe to be correct for what I want.
Head to head SW will get you a set much cheaper and much faster than WV. Summit has been seeling them cheaper than you can Buy them directly from WV.
The WV are curently back-ordered from Summitt.I know,I`m waiting for a set.But Summitt is so close to me,so I guess I`ll wait
Specialty Wheels is out of the businesss, division moved to Coker Tire. Had quite a discussion on this topic, some politics involved. It seems that Coker and Wheel Vintiques are it!! Both these places are very expnsive to deal with direct, shipping and wheel cost is high, cost of steel is up and so are their prices. Summit Racing is the place for the best buy, however they are out of stock.
Specialty Wheel 19310 NE San Rafael St, Portland, OR 97230 Phone: (503) 491-8848 Holy cow! I had no idea they were bought out. That's too bad as they were great to deal with. I just tried to call and there was no answer. But it is Saturday.
Phil, it seems I may be confusing a few issues here. Here is the link for Portland Oregon Specialty Wheel www.specialtywheelsltd.org I called the wrong one - Specialty Wheel in TN(now getting a new name - Newstalgia Wheels) and here is the story as told to me. www.specialtywheel.com Specialty Wheel only does aluminum wheels now and will sell nothing else. All steel wheels are now fully under the Coker name. I asked more on how this happened and he said that the same family had roots in ownership of both businesses. A son in the Coker business wanted the steel wheel repro business and got it. There is no official affiliation between the two companies just family politics. I called Coker and was quoted ~$158/wheel + $15-20 shipping for each wheel....ouch!
Buick rims I wonder if anyone has considered manufacturing the Buick Ralley rim in aluminum. Factory look, light weight, cool. I'd buy a set :TU:
I contacted Eastwood after I recieved a catalog from them @2 weeks ago on a special they are having. 15x7 Factory Repro Buick wheels (she said they were from specialty wheels) 139.99 ea ...free shipping in the states...use the catalog code r1a4134..their number is 1800-345-1178. Good luck
Similar Experience I called wheel vintiques and got a quote for some Ch*** wheels (for dad) and they basically to ld me to buy from Summit or Jeg's. Saved like $30 per wheel- crazy. I still have not gotten the center hubs or trim rings. Might try rallyamerica.com gary rechromes Buick wheels and lists the wheel vintiques for sale. He will also recomend buying straight from the source. Gotta love all that competition (= 0)
I just received 2 of my wheel vintiques wheels that I ordered from summitt 2 months ago. They were BOTH BENT in shipping! Thanks UPS! Now I am going to have to deal with shipping them back. I also blame for whoever packaged them, because they were in cardboard boxes only, and they were both strapped together, making it very heavy. (53 lbs) So the boxes were destroyed and so were the rims. The other 2 are coming in next week, who knows what those are going to look like. Sorry, just a little ranting! :af:
