Anybody here have any opinions on the chrome valve covers and chrome air cleaner lid on eBay..do they fit Or don't waste my time Thanks
Just replaced my leaking red covers this winter with a high end (read $$$) set of covers from an outfit on Long Island. Two covers with gaskets and fill cap for $99.00. They leaked as bad as the old ones even with spreader clamps on the VC studs/bolts. They were touted as being as thick steel as the OEM units but after the fact, I realized they needed gaskets twice as thick as the original due to a taller lip. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Valve...ets-Kit-NEW-/391777022365?hash=item5b37baf19d If I was gonna change out to a new gasket, I figgered Id put the Old used Stage 1 covers on ($25 nice driver quality). I did use the Edelhoser thicker steel re-enforced gaskets with No leaks. Keep your GM car all GM! These are still like new with less than 5 minutes run time. If youre interested PM me and we can work out a deal. ws
The TA performance chrome valve covers are on par price wise with everywhere else...never had a probelm with mine. I bought a chrome air clearner off the shelf from the local parts store...like $20. Then I bought the correct stickers from OPGI. I think all together total price was like $100 CORRECTION: I bought the valve covers from OPGI. For that price you can get the TA cast aluminum. They have a positive seal and will not warp. Look better IMO too.
I have a set of valve covers off EBay and I use cork gaskets and don't overtighten. No leaks here. I never used the air cleaner, sorry.
