How tough a job is replacing the body mounts on a 70Gs Coupe? My car is missing the rear pasenger side one, and the rest are in bad shape. Car has been pretty much resored and very clean. I think all of this was done without a frame off. Can you do it without removing the body? Where can I find bolts, and the bushings and doughnuts, or whatever they are? Thanks for any input.
    Regards, John.

Yes, They can be rplaced without removeing the body completely. I lifted the body off the frame with all of the interior still in place.

It would be a good idea to remove the front fenders though along with the front and rear bumpers.....

It could be done front to back with an engine hoist of side to side with a floor jack.

All you need (in the bushings and hardware) can be bought from Poston's or if you dare from Car's

If you're talking about the body bushings, the round rubber pieces that are between the body and frame, they are not that hard to replace. Most of the suppliers stock these. Look for kits at CARS inc, Year One, OPG or maybe someone knows of a better place.

First you have to get all the bolts out. This job can be rough if there is a lot of rust. If the bolts aren't too rusty. I'd reuse them and the washers. Then you raise the body off the frame just enough to slip out the bushings and install the new ones. You can use a floor jack and 4 jack stands. You jack the car up by the rear end center section then put the jack stands under the body in the appropriate spots. Then you let the frame down to the ground. Depending on how big you are you probably will want to get something under the wheels to give you more ground clearance.

Maybe try doing a search on here for body bushings or try this site for more info http://www.buickperformance.com/ I'm sure there are many different ways to do this job.

I reused almost all of my hardware except the core support. If you take you time, you can get all the bolts out in one piece. If for some reason one does brake off, then you will have some work on your hands  .

    John,

As Andy said this is not too hard and can be done with the body on the frame. I have had good luck using Andy's technique in the past. HTH.
