    Hello everyone
Okay so now I have to start purchasing parts to rebuild my find.....315HP GS350 engine.
Plans are to keep it near stock, updating areas that were or could be problamatic?
I am wanting to purchase a cam that is stock or as close to as possible. Any suggestions? I see Crower has some in its 'Garage Sale' area. I have added a link below in case anyone wants to check them out, any look right to you seasoned Buick vets.....
Thanks again for any and all help:grin:

    GSXMEN Got Jesus?

I picked up one of the 50260 grinds for $50 at a local car show! Got my TA Stage 1 350 intake from the same guy!:TU: Every once in a while, I'm in the right place at the right time.

Looks to be quite a healthy grind...you'll have to build the motor to match the cam! At least you'll have the compression already. Throw in some head work, the right valve spring assemblies, TA Stage 1 intake, etc. and you'll be good to go!!:TU:

Thanks Scott for your input:Comp: But what I want is a direct replacement for the stock cam, or a resonably close match. Anyone have any ideas, information, input.........
    As always thanks

I would definatley NOT put a stock cam back in your engine. Call TA Performance and see what they recommend for your engine. They have much better grinds in terms of perfomance and drivability over what the old stock cam provides, you can still maintain the factory idle, and probably pick up 15 to 20 horse over the stocker. Thanks Mark....
Nothing against TA Performance as by the looks of the all the referals people give to them on this board they ARE the Buick performance people, however.....
This is Canada and costs double here on specialty parts, exchange, dutys, taxes, brokerage fees, etc. The list goes on :eek2:
Now because of this I have to try and get the deals so I have sources to use here, assorted shops that give better than retail prices.
What I am looking for would have to be from another aftermarket company that would be sold thru my local speed shop chain, Crane, Crower, etc. That manufactures cams for the 350 Buick. What I am looking for would have to be available thru a local shop because we Canadians have a dollar thats worth about 17 cents in the US :ball:
So once again any suggestions on a good replacement cam:confused:
    Thanks
    Drew

Drew, I would go with one of Comp Cams High Energy grinds like the 252 or 268.Either one will have a good idle(268 a little lope)and plenty of vaccum for your accessories. The price is reasonable too.You could also go with an Isky or Crower as they both also make cams for the Buick 350.You want to go with something like this for duration 205* Intake 215* Exhaust and @.440 to .450 or less on your lift. Almost forgot,Crane makes a few also.Just check out the cam grinders websites.Good luck!:TU: Jeff B.

    Thanks Jeff
Went to TA's website and checked out their cams, then wandered the internet looking at everyone elses comparing their grinds to TA's.....trying to find something close.
After all imitation is the sincerest form of flattery:Brow:
    Wish me luck!

Hey drew ,I can relate to the price thing .Ihave run a comp H E 268 in my 455 and it works great .As the gentleman before said it may be quite loppy .Comp also makes a H E 260 which maybe a happy compromise .Also check out canadian hi-performance discount(I'd creat a link but to computer dumd and the kids are sleeping) they are located in BC not far from you Surrey or Burnaby I think .Use a search engine to find the web site
    Good luck and later

Oh yeah, that one too!Iforgot about the High Energy 260 grind. That would be a better one as far as good idle goes and still has good torque.

    cam choice

Drew if I was going to pick one of the crower cams the 50258 looks to be about your best choice to keep some bottom end torque but still has some good top end.You also might ask them about a custom ground cam for you.Just tell them what you want it for and what type of gears you have and they can set you up.With an LDA of 112* that cam should idle well and give you lots of vaccum for your brakes.Schnieder racing cams makes the cams for TA and can also custom grind you a cam if you like.It usually doesn't cost much more to have one custom ground than it does to buy one all ready to go.Keep me posted. brblx clueless

the 50258 looks pretty good for a mild engine...it's about the same in lift as the TA212 (generally considered a great all-around cam) but with slightly less duraction which should like a stock converter better than a more radical cam.

Thanks for all the input. This board is a wealth of information. As long as I can make all the components in my drivetrain work together as one smoooooth runnin Buick I'll be a happy camper!!
I guess the next question will be what do ya think of this plan.....

Close to stock 1970 GS350 engine
    Runnin thru a 200 4R
into possibly a Olds 8.5 rear with 3.91 posi ( a friend has one he willin to part with)

Let me know as usual all opinions

Sounds like a plan to me.The 200 should work just fine behind your 350. The 3.90 gears should really wake up that Crower cam.:TU:

    I like Crane

I have had the same Crane grind in my car since 1985 and it still kicks A$$!

Drew - Can I ask what happened to the 401 engine?
Those engines are too cool, and very hard to kill!

    1964401 The Frankenstein Skylark

The 401 got replaced by the 350 because the 350 was FREE:grin: And after looking into cost of putting the 401 into my car, finding the correct parts for the engine swap, rebuilding the engine, proper rad support and rad, etc. Getting a free GS350 engine that will drop right in, 2004R bolts right up......
Well it just seemed right :TU:
Not that I didn't want the 401 as it would have been _______ (place own explative phrase).
Thanks for all the assistance though everyone

OK, I didn't think that the bolt pattern on the bellhousing was different. Going to the OD 200r4 is a great idea.

Anyway, the 350's are hard to kill, too!
